Much a do about NAHBS

If you are always drooling over the Rapha pictures, and scratching your head about the price of their gear, you can do it a little bit closer to the Rapha Continental folks and some of the continental builders. If you are going to be in Richmond for NAHBS, there will be a Gentlemen’s and Lady’s 20 mile ride through the hills of Richmond leaving from the show hotel (Richmond Marriott—500 East Broad Street) at 7:30am. Meet at 7:00am for some coffee and pasteries provided by Carytown Bicycle Company. If this ride has a route that is anything like the rest of the Rapha Contential rides, then this will be one ride not to miss. If you have any questions, please email

Rapha will also have a booth at the show and will be fully (and openly) participating in the show this year. According to their blog, they said that their booth will have not only their new Spring/Summer 2010 “range”, but also. some stuff from Rouleur Magazine including the 2009 Photo Annual.

While snooping around the web looking for some NAHBS info, I found out that Carytown Bicycles is throing a party with a guest list of the whos who in the cycling world like folks from Chris King, Thomson, Cinelli, Moots, Niner and others.

Along with the Friday night party, the shop is having a M E G A raffle! Here’s the lowdown: 50 tickets, 50 prizes, $25 a ticket. Everyone wins right? And here is the best part, the grand prize is a Cinelli Super Pista frameset in your size! These sell for $1900 so get ready for some real excitement. You have to be at the shop to be able to win. Keep an eye here and on their blog to find out when you can buy tickets.

I will keep updating these posts, so email me or comment here when you hear about anything else going on.

Update #1 10:57 2/18

Tickets for the raffle are now here! These just arrived and they are selling quickly. If you would like to be part of the raffle call or swing by the shop to get your ticket. Remember there were only 50 total tickets to begin with. 804-440-2453 Get that Cinelli!

Also, the Carytown Bicycle Company NAHBS party is now officially sponsored by SRAM. They bought the beer and we made the leap. SRAM will be on hand Friday night with some of their latest goodies for you to check out up close and personal.

I love that the party is being sponsored by SRAM, but the show has a Shimano logo on it. Does this mean the party will be lighter, look better, function crisper, and be where the cool kids will hang? I think so.

Update #2 1:45 2/19/09 I called and got tickets this morning. As of about 10:30, half of the tickets were gone. With a guarnteed prize and a chance to win one of these… it’s worth the scratch for a ticket. Give them a call, they can sell them over the phone!
