Philadelphia Cyclocross School

Two guys who have been around the cross scene in Philadelphia are helping to deliver an international flair to the Mid Atlantic Cyclcross Series (MAC). Former Euro rider and all around bike guy Dave Berson is teaming up with an industry lifer Jed Kornblugh to bring you the Philadelphia Cyclocross School (PCS).

Valentin at Hillbilly Hustle

The aim of the PCS pairs cultural exchange and high-caliber racing in an effort to open the American cycling community to riders from overseas. The mission of PCS is two-fold: Introduce a group of young and talented European cyclocross riders to American culture while working toward establishing a greater professional cyclocross racing presence in the United States. The racers will be immersed in the cross world and American culture by living here for 12 weeks and riding in all of the MAC races. You better bust out your embro, because these guys are coming on strong and not letting up. Your puny American legs will not be able to handle the Swiss assault of Valentin Scherz and Anthony Grand.

The motivation comes from last seasons domination by Scherz in the MAC series. Berson and his family became hosts for Scherz who credits the time spent here as the key component to his series win. Berson says of Scherz, He helped with the children, cooked family meals, and participated in family outings, all while maintaining his training schedule and rest between sessions.

Kornblugh says that eventually he would like to extend this program to more riders and even start some training events with the euros and locals. Wednesdays are going to get interesting!

Several sponsors have stepped up to aid their endeavor, including Cyfac Bicycles, Revolution WheelWorks, Champion System, Ifixbyx, Ritchey Design, Fizik, Cycling Captured, Tandems East, Dr. Barry Wahner Chiropractic, Draftmaster, Swiss Stop, VelocityNation, and Mid-Atlantic Cyclocross Series.

Sponsorship opportunities still exist for the team. Interested parties should contact Jed Kornbluh at for more information.
