Finish your night ride early

I know it is cold out. Deal. It is not that bad. If you are one of the hardcore brother/sisterhood of winter night riders, make sure you are out of the parks early. After 8, you better be wearing orange! The Farimount Park system is closing the trails from 8pm to 6am every night till March 31. Please be careful out there.

Plan on heading home from Fairmount Park early beginning Monday, as the city Parks and Recreation Commission will start to dispatch hunters there at 8 p.m. that night.

The curfew for the park, which normally begins at 1 a.m., is being expanded through March 31 because of an effort to control the deer population.

The Wissahickon Valley, West Fairmount Park, Cobbs Creek Park and Pennypack Park areas will be closed daily from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

All trails, parking lots and other areas in those parks will be closed, the commission said.
